Dorénavant, la station ne disposera que des véhicules russes Progress pour amener du « gasoil spatial » à l’ISS.

    The Jules Verne, the first of Europe’s Automated Transfer Vehicles designed to ferry supplies to the International Space Station (ISS), arrived at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou late in July. Since its arrival, CNES teams have been preparing the ATV for launch in specially altered facilities, under the watchful eye of the director of operations. It is scheduled to make its maiden flight on 31 January 2008, on a specially adapted Ariane 5 launcher.

    « Reset » Ce jeudi a été bien productif au centre de contrôle de l’Automated Transfer Vehicle. Pour commencer, tous les hardwares, mais aussi les logiciels et sous-systèmes des moyens du centre de contrôle seront « frais » pour l’amarrage : en effet, les grounds controllers ont réinitialisé tous les moyens sol (serveurs, postes de travail…).

    L’Automated Transfer Vehicle est toujours attaché à la Station Spatiale Internationale, mais les responsables du projet se réunissent déjà à Noordwijk, en Pay-Bas pour échanger sur la mission ATV5 Patrice Benarroche, chef des opérations pour le CNES, et Kris Capelle, leader des Mission Directors de l’ESA, ont quitté momentanément l’ATV-CC aujourd’hui pour rencontrer les experts « Flight segment » de l’ATV à l’ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Center).
