  3. HUMAN SPACEFLIGHT SYMPOSIUM IN BANGALORE- CNES TO SUPPORT INDIA’S PROGRAMME

    Friday 24 January, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was the guest of honour at the international Human Spaceflight Symposium organized in Bangalore, India, by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Astronautical Society of India (ASI). On this occasion, he called for cooperation between France and India in human spaceflight to be pursued in the long term, with CNES’s support for the Gaganyaan missions as the first step towards future collaboration on the development of India’s planned space station.

    Vendredi 24 janvier, Jean-Yves Le Gall, Président du CNES, était l’invité d’honneur du Symposium on Human Space Flight, colloque international organisé à Bangalore (Inde) par l’IAA (International Academy of Astronautics), l’ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) et l’ASI (Astronautical Society of India). À cette occasion, le Président du CNES a exprimé le souhait d’inscrire dans la durée la coopération engagée entre la France et l’Inde dans le domaine des vols spatiaux habités, dans l’immédiat avec le soutien du CNES au programme Gaganyaan et pour le futur, dans le cadre du développement annoncé d'une station spatiale indienne.

  7. France-China space cooperation- CFOSat in orbit

    Monday 29 October, the China France Oceanography Satellite (CFOSat) was placed into orbit by a Chinese Long March 2C launch vehicle from the Jiuquan launch base in Inner Mongolia. CFOSat’s solar array deployed successfully 32 minutes later and the satellite started its science mission to study ocean surface winds and waves.

  9. CNES-IRD cooperation Space supporting development in Southern Nations

    Friday 18 October, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Jean-Paul Moatti, Chairman & CEO of IRD, the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development, signed a framework cooperation agreement at the agency’s Toulouse Space Centre on space supporting the development of Southern Nations. The agreement will run for five years (2019-2024) and is tacitly renewable. The two partners have been working together under two other agreements since 2009 and now wish to continue seeking synergies between their missions and pooling expertise in their respective domains of excellence.

  10. International space cooperation- CNES at the 35th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs

    CNES is at the 35th Space Symposium, being held from Monday 8 to Thursday 11 April in Colorado Springs, United States. The Space Symposium is a must-attend event for the international space community that has brought together institutional, military, scientific and commercial space leaders from around the world to discuss the latest technology developments and to address and plan for the future of space since the inaugural gathering in 1984. It is, with the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), one of the space sector’s two leading annual international events. More than 11,000 attendees and more than 100 speakers are present at the 2019 edition, where Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of CNES and the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), took part in two sessions.

  11. CNES celebrates 50th anniversary of first French-Russian space cooperation agreement

    30 June 1966, France and the Soviet Union signed a first cooperation agreement on the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space. Over the last 50 years, the two countries have worked together on many emblematic programmes in the fields of science, human spaceflight and launch vehicles, forging true industrial ties in the process.

  13. CNES-ONERA cooperation in full swing

    Building on their historic partnership in space research, CNES and ONERA, the French aeronautics, space and defence research laboratory, are joining forces to address new challenges in the field of launchers and satellites. The cooperation agreement signed in 2015 has moved collaboration between the two agencies up a gear, with 10 programmes of shared interest now underway, seven for launchers and three for orbital systems. This joint research effort is set to continue in 2016 and beyond, covering in-depth studies for reusable launch vehicles and new research into orbital systems, including exchanges of personnel to encourage cross-fertilization.

  14. Space cooperation between France and South Korea- CNES briefs KARI and KMA on Space Climate Observatory

    CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in South Korea on Monday 2 July to meet the key leaders of the country’s space sector, including Lim Cheol-Ho, President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), and Nam Jae-Cheol, Head of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The main purpose of his visit was for CNES to present the state of progress on the Space Climate Observatory (SCO). It followed the 2nd France-Korea Space Forum in Paris on Tuesday 3 April, organized by CNES and KARI and attended by numerous politicians, scientists, administrative officials and representatives from across the French and Korean space sector. It is part of preparations for South Korean President Moon Jae-In’s state visit to France in October.

  20. CNES and DLR renew their framework agreement for bilateral cooperation

    At the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA), which takes places from Wednesday the 1st to Thursday the 4th, june 2016, in Berlin, Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of CNES, the French space agency, and Pascale Ehrebnfreund, Chair of the DLR Executive Board (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt), renewed the framework agreement for bilateral cooperation between CNES and DLR.
