    3. Soyuz successfully launches first six satellites in OneWeb constellation (OneWeb F6) from Guiana Space Centre

      Wednesday 27 February, Soyuz accomplished a flawless launch from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Europe’s spaceport in Kourou, placing the first six satellites in the OneWeb constellation (OneWeb F6) on behalf of global internet provider OneWeb. Soyuz thus accomplished its 21st straight success from the CSG since 2011.

      Thursday 10 January in Cayenne, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Didier Faivre, Director of the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), presented the agency’s traditional New Year wishes to French Guiana’s members of parliament, institutional and socio-professional representatives, town councillors and government officials. They also paid tribute to the centre’s teams for their accomplishments in 2018, another record year in which 11 launches were conducted from the base and Ariane 5 reached the milestone of its 100th flight.

    11. Paving the way for future launchers- CNES and ArianeGroup launch ArianeWorks acceleration platform

      Thursday 21 February in Paris, in the presence of Frédérique Vidal, the French Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and ArianeGroup CEO André-Hubert Roussel signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create an acceleration platform dedicated to the preparation of future launchers. To be called ArianeWorks, the new platform will boost innovation for future launcher development by bringing teams together under one roof and connecting them to Europe’s space ecosystem.

      CNES’s Launch Vehicles Directorate (DLA) is prime contractor on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for ground launch facilities in French Guiana. After analysing competing bids, it has selected the consortium led by Eiffage TP to complete the earthworks for the future ELA 4 launch complex dedicated to Ariane 6.
