    Friday 11 November at the COP22 in Marrakesh, being held from 7-18 November, CNES and its Moroccan counterparts organized a panel discussion on space technologies aiding implementation of the COP agreements. Ségolène Royal, Minister for the Environment, Energy and Maritime Affairs, in charge of international climate relations, and Abdellatif Loudiyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for the administration of National Defence, in charge of space affairs, gave the opening speeches.

  3. [REPLAY] Soyuz successfully orbits CSO-2 satellite

    Tuesday 29 December, Soyuz accomplished a flawless launch from Europe’s spaceport at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), carrying the CSO-2 military observation and security satellite on behalf of CNES and the French defence procurement agency DGA for French Armed Forces High Command (EMA). The launcher thus accomplished its 25th mission from the CSG, its second in 2020 and the seventh flight of the year in all from the base.

  5. CNES keeps a lookout for collisions in space

    Last week’s collision between the Kosmos and Iridium satellites was an exceptionally rare event. But with the growing field of orbital debris now encircling the planet, the ability to predict and avert such occurrences is today a key issue. CNES is at the forefront of efforts in this respect, keeping a constant watch over 15 satellites in low-Earth orbit and performing collision-avoidance manoeuvres when necessary.

    Soyuz rocket orbited CSO-1 satellite from our French Guiana Space Center on December 19, 2018. Launch initialy scheduled on December 18, 2018 had been postponed by 24 hours due to unfavorable high-altitude wind conditions. Watch again the replay on that page.
