    An article by six young scientists, among them CNES grantee student Amaury Dehecq, has been published in the prestigious international science journal Nature. The article reveals that despite a spectacular increase in ice sheet meltwater, ice flow along land-terminating margins of the Greenland Ice Sheet has slowed.

  11. Space and Climate CNES presents postscript to COP21 at plenary session of COPUOS (Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space)

    The 2016 plenary session of COPUOS, the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, is being held all this week in Vienna, Austria. CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was there to give a speech on efforts engaged in the wake of the COP21 and how the space sector is helping to monitor climate and drive growth.

  14. ‘The Climate needs Space’ symposium CNES committed to climate actions

    Two years after the COP21 conference culminating in the Paris Agreement, climate remains the centre of international political attention. Efforts to curb climate change are a top priority and the space sector is playing an active role in this respect. It is in this context that CNES took part today in the ‘Climate needs Space’ international symposium in Toulouse, which brought together space agencies and space industry representatives.

  17. Heads of space agencies make final Declaration at Mexico summit

    A Summit for the world’s space agencies, held in Mexico City on Friday 18 September, has resulted in a unanimously adopted Declaration—a powerful gesture from the space community in the run-up to COP21. Organized by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), the Summit covered issues such as the importance of international cooperation and the contribution of satellites—two key factors for observing climate change and ensuring that the international commitments to tackle it are fulfilled.
