  6. 68th IAC comes to a close, french space embraces the new space paradigm

    The 68th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) was held this week in Adelaide, Australia, from 25-29 September on the theme ‘Unlocking Imagination, Fostering Innovation and Strengthening Security’, attracting 5,000 delegates from more than 70 countries. A large delegation of scientists, engineers and executives from the French space sector was at this leading international event to present the major advances of our space programme and seal new partnerships with a range of stakeholders on the international space scene.

    Friday 22 July in Tokyo, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall met the agency’s Japanese partners: his opposite number Naoki Okumura, President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA); Saku Tsuneta, Director General of the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS); Shuzo Takada, Director General of the National Space Policy Secretariat at the Cabinet Office; and Masaaki Tanaka, Director General of the Research and Development Bureau at MEXT, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

  10. French space shines at IAC 2018 in Bremen- Paris to host 72nd IAC in 2021

    The 69th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), focused on the theme ‘Involving Everyone’, came to a close today in Bremen, Germany, with the selection of Paris as host city for IAC 2021. This leading event in the space calendar has held all its promises and proved a huge success. CNES’s participation was especially noteworthy, with a series of agreements signed and new partnerships sealed with various international space players, large numbers of visitors to the agency’s stand and a high standard of technical presentations from its scientists and engineers.

  11. CNES in Montevideo for GLAC 2018 (Global Space Application Conference 2018)

    Monday 21 May in Montevideo, in the presence of Uruguay’s Defence Minister Jorge Menéndez, Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of CNES and the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), gave the opening address at the Global Space Application Conference 2018 (GLAC 2018). Co-organized by IAF and CIDA-E (Centro de Investigación y Difusión Aeronáutico-Espacial), an IAF member since 1985, GLAC 2018 follows on from GLAC 2014, which gave the international satellite applications community the chance to make significant strides in planning and development of its activities. GLAC 2018 offers governments, space agencies, industry and entrepreneurs a high-level forum to discuss, analyse and compare perspectives on progress achieved and to look to the future of space applications on a global scale.

  12. French space in Guadalajara for 67th IAC- Jean-Yves Le Gall President of IAF

    The 67th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), the annual gathering of the international space community, came to a close on Friday 30 September in Guadalajara with CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall taking up his post as the new President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) after a moving handover speech from Kiyoshi Higuchi, the Federation’s President for the last four years.

  14. Le CNES à Montevideo pour la GLAC 2018 (Global Space Application Conference 2018)

    En présence de Jorge Menéndez, Ministre de la Défense de l’Uruguay, Jean-Yves Le Gall, Président du CNES et Président de l’IAF (International Astronautical Federation), a inauguré lundi 21 mai à Montevideo, la GLAC 2018 (Global Space Application Conference 2018). Co-organisée par l’IAF et le CIDA-E (Centro de Investigación y Difusión Aeronáutico-Espacial), membre de l’IAF depuis 1985, la GLAC 2018 succède à la GLAC 2014 qui avait permis à la communauté internationale des applications satellitaires, de considérablement progresser en termes de planification et de développement de ses activités. La GLAC 2018 propose aux gouvernements, aux agences spatiales, aux industriels et aux entrepreneurs, un forum de haut niveau pour échanger, analyser et confronter leurs expériences sur les progrès réalisés et anticiper l'avenir des applications spatiales à l'échelle mondiale.

  16. France-Australia space cooperation- Successful Austral 2017 balloon flight campaign- Promising prospects for future cooperation in sight

    CNES has completed the three stratospheric balloon flights of its Austral 2017 campaign without a hitch, yielding a rich harvest of precious science data on climate, astronomy and technology. CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall visited the Alice Springs balloon launch facility to congratulate the agency’s and research laboratories’ flight campaign teams. He then met several Australian space executives and officials ahead of the 68th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) to be held in Adelaide this September.
